There are more than 3,200 people experiencing homelessness in the city of Long Beach. Our Search and Rescue mobile outreach team drives throughout the city engaging those we see on the streets offering life-saving supplies and compassionate care.

Volunteers provide essential toiletries, food, water and other supplies to the people we encounter and offer them services and shelter at Long Beach Rescue Mission.

Our heart is to encourage those we see offering them hope, prayer and a listening ear. There’s a story behind every person we meet and together with our volunteers we are cultivating relationships and establishing trust with a vision to see their lives transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Interested in volunteering or have questions about our outreach? Get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator Lala Derico — lalad@lbrm.org  or (562) 591-1292.

Search and Rescue teams are led by experienced staff who focus on the safety of the volunteers and sensitivity to those we serve. This is a one-of-a-kind, potentially life-changing volunteer opportunity for you!

“We met Michelle on a morning outreach. A serious storm was coming and we needed to get as many people as we could off the street that night. Michelle has experienced significant trauma and is a victim of domestic violence. Her alcohol abuse was a way of numbing her pain. She felt hopeless. We prayed with her and as we prayed she wept. We were able to get her off the street and into shelter. While the road to healing and recovery will be long, in this moment she felt seen and heard and experienced the love of God. Help us bring healing and hope to the most vulnerable of our community and support our Search and Rescue program.”
